Rodney Mason’s My Mother’s Son

Rodney Mason is a Gulf War veteran, a television personality, the public face of Tanqueray gin, and a Bessie and Black Theater Award-winning dance and performance artist who has toured the globe with Rennie Harris’ PureMovement. He is also one of our city’s own, having grown up in the projects of South Philly. In this autobiographical solo project, Mason takes us from the conflicts of his Philadelphia childhood to the challenges of his life in Hollywood. A hip-hop theater blend of spoken word, dance, and humorous video, My Mother’s Son runs through the economic, cultural, and political tensions of our times, precisely because Mason’s improbable life combines them all.
