“Forget everything you know.” I found myself saying this in a staff meeting recently, as we were trying to predict audience numbers and reactions to an upcoming presentation. I was saying this in response not only to the changing patterns in attendance at the Bride, but also to what feels like a changing world. Let’s face it: We are living in strange times. In these strange and uncertain times we hope that you will support the Bride. Because making, supporting, and participating in art is more important now than ever. Art is an affirmation of hope, because it holds the possibility of change and connection. And we at the Painted Bride see valuable moments of exchange and hope every day through our programs. Art creates the space of possibility, promotes new ways of thinking, and reminds us what is worth fighting for. We understand that you believe this also, and we hope that you will act on that belief with a monetary gift. In service, Laurel Raczka Executive Director
