In this brilliant open mic series, ten storytelling hopefuls are selected to present a five-minute tale, based on a provided theme. When the doors open, storyteller hopefuls put their names in The Moth “hat”. A half hour later, names are picked, and one by one, storytellers take the stage. The ten featured stories are scored by teams of judges selected from the audience. Each StorySLAM generates a StorySLAM winner. After ten SLAMs, the winners face off in our GrandSLAM Championships

The Pigeon, Philadelphia’s largest adult poetry slam presenter, hosts Vanishing Point, a multimedia poetry production.
“Day of the Poet,” Philly’s pioneering festival of Spoken Word, which headlined monthly at the Bride for nine seasons, returns to celebrate the vision, talent, and insurgent spirit that fostered a movement and forged an epoch. This historic event will reunite seminal DOTP alumni whose artistic contributions to contemporary culture have become storied. Presenting; Trapeta Mayson, Rich Medina, Twin Poets, DJ Razor Ramon, Ursula Rucker, and festival founder, curator, and Spoken Word legend Kevin O’Neill. Special guests from NYC and SCI Graterford, et al, will be announced. The event will also include an open mic lottery.
