InLiquid’s Notes to Myself

InLiquid presents Notes To Myself, a group exhibition of artists whose work examines the link between written language and visual art. The artists draw from such varied sources as spoken Yiddish, sheet music, handwritten scrolls, and gibberish. The artwork in this exhibition is an imaginative take on the role of symbols, gesture, and mark-making in the act of writing.

And Still they Rose: The Legacy of Black Philadelphians in Ballet

The history of Black Philadelphians in classical ballet dates back to the early 1930’s. In this in-depth panel discussion, dance icons Joan Myers Brown of Philadanco and Delores Browne of The New York Negro Ballet recount the early years as dancers. From training with trailblazers like Sydney King and Marion Cuyjet, to studying with World renown English choreographer Anthony Tudor, their stories are a master class on ballet, blackness, and how they intersect here in Philadelphia. Accompanying this illuminating talk will be a visual exhibit of portraiture by Eva Mueller.
