The Won Institute and Korean Culture Foundation present a celebration of contemporary Korean arts and culture at the seventh annual K-NOW Festival. Through exhibits and performances, K-NOW takes attendees on a journey across centuries, exploring traditional Korean arts and their potential for new expressive possibilities in our current moment.
Discover the craftsmanship behind hanji, traditional Korean paper, and then marvel at its versatility during our hanji fashion show. Listen to the sounds of traditional Korean percussion music and then hear how local ensemble The East Wind is expanding this music in new ways. Finally, enjoy performances from the Oscuro Quintet and Eun Jung Choi, young Korean-American artists who are inspired by influences beyond the Korean artistic tradition.
3pm: Come early and learn about hanji, a traditional Korean paper with a long and prestigious history, and practice your own paper art. The Won Institute will also offer free acupuncture demonstrations as well as an opportunity to learn about acupressure, herbal medicine, Tai Chi and other eastern medicine practices as part of an effort designed to increase public awareness of the progress, promise, and benefits of acupuncture and eastern medicine.
