Alchemy Dance Company’s “Rite of Passage” takes a look back at the riotous audience reception at the premiere of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, and how it relates to our present concepts of society, reality, and the human spirit. This new dance theater work will feature an original score by local Philadelphia Composer Jonathan Bowles and contemporary choreography designed by Artistic Director Amy Harding. Audiences will also see an expanded version of Alchemy’s “Sideshow Noir”, a dance theater experience that combines contemporary choreography with jazz and bboy movement styles.
