Steven Bernstein’s MTO Plays SLY
Tearing into witty and funky new arrangements of little-known jazz nuggets from the 1920s and ‘30s, as well as radically transforming songs by artists such as Prince and the Beatles, Steven Bernstein (Grammy-nominated composer/Sex Mob trumpeter) leads an improvisational eleven-piece outfit playing irreverent 21st-century take on music/message legacy of Sly & the Family Stone.
