Cathleen Hughes – “Breaking Patterns”

Inliquid Art & Design Presents…

Cathleen Hughes
Breaking Patterns
October 3 – November 15, 2014

Cathleen Hughes is a Philadelphia native whose public works include scores of community oriented Murals throughout the Delaware Valley. She was a staff muralist at the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program for over eighteen years. This provided her the opportunity to combine her unique artistic talents with her love of art education. It also allowed her to bring Art into people’s lives in a very real way. Breaking Patterns reflects these dynamics with its use of the artist’s abstract archetypical images and a hands on workshop that brings people together in a creative environment. This allows for the interaction of individuals that come together for a common goal. Often this can become the spark that ignites a sense of Community where it wasn’t before.

Cathleen Hughes will be offering a painting workshop FREE to youth (intended for ages 12-17) on both November 1st and 8th from noon-1:30pm. Participants will work collaboratively to create a large-scale painting, titled Changing Patterns for Peace, as well as create their own Make-And-Take piece! The workshops will he held at the Painted Bride and interested participants can RSVP online HERE or by calling InLiquid at 215-235-3405. They will be first come, first served. Materials will be provided.
