Celebrating Senegal features two all-new, original dances commissioned by Kùlú Mèlé by Senegalese choreographer Marie Basse-Wiles, co-founder of the Maimouna Keita School of African Dance and a former dancer who performed internationally with the Ballet National du Senegal. Kulu Mele African Dance & Drum Ensemble has been a Philadelphia institution for nearly 50 years. Kulu Mele performs year-round, in Philadelphia and around the world.
