“Under poems and manifestos, Anderson’s dancers exploded in mesmerizing and virtuosic patterns that fused classical tribal African dance with post-vogue club b-boy expressionism.

Award winning science fiction meets high powered dance theater…
the Painted Bride Art Center presents the Philadelphia premiere of Charles O. Anderson’s Dance Theater X in World Headquarters. As humanity enters the age of the apocalypse, witness a sci-fi kinetic “survival of the fittest” tale. Follow the quest of a small group of survivors led by a wise new-age sage.  Can they collectively seek the inner strength to light-up the darkness?  Don’t miss World Headquarters – a new dance work Seattle Times exclaims, “can take your breath away with its ferocity and athleticism.”

Co-commissioned by the Bride, created by Philadelphia based dancer-choreographer Charles O. Anderson (Dance Magazine’s Top 25 to Watch), and inspired by Octavia Butler’s popular novels Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents.
