InLiquid curates the Bride’s café space offering audiences the opportunity to explore the question,“What are the relationships between heirlooms, the memories they delicately preserve and the decaying effects of time?” Take in the paintings of Anna Breininger, who uses Pennsylvania German motifs as a starting point to explore notions of memory. Later the work reveals the spiritual, familial, cultural and material values people hold personally dear. Although her imagery is specific—like the symbols of so many cultural people — it illustrates the fact that memories and objects can reflect genuine worth and kitschy value as well.
