Homeworld, a new performance for very young audiences in partnership with Painted Bride Art Center.
Homeworld is a gentle dance performance created for babies, ages 3 to 18 months, and their caregivers, inspired by the splendor of coral reef and undersea creatures. The performance invites exploration through playful dance and soft, sculptural installations that the audience can encounter from all sides. The aquatic terrain of Homeworld has been crafted to inspire confidence, imagination, and self-discovery in babies and early toddlers. Homeworld is a beautiful, relaxed space where families with very young children can enjoy the experience of live art together.
Homeworld is performed for up to 10 families at a time inside a glowing white tent. Babies and their caregivers are invited to crawl, explore, and follow their curiosities throughout the installation. This intimate collage of electronic sounds, surprising movements, and creative play provides an opportunity for babies to discover new people, textures, sounds, and ideas while their caregiver is close by. Homeworld gives its inquisitive audiences room to play, dance, explore, and bond with their guardian as a secure home base inside a soft, organic environment.
