Klave Mayor
8pm Lessons | 9pm Party
There will be two separate Salsa lessons: one for beginners and one for intermediate salseros.
Singles and Couples alike shake off the winter chill and heat up the dance floor at this Valentine’s Day dance class, party, and concert. Learn salsa basics from expert instructor, Maestro Flaco, and then try out your new moves to the sounds of Klave Mayor during this romantic evening of live music.
Salsa Caliente invites dancers of any skill level or walk of life to enjoy the live energy of Latin music together. It’s a vision brought to life by Jesse Bermudez, founder of La Asociación de Músicos Latino Americanos (AMLA) and long-time Painted Bride collaborator.
With his help, the Bride’s theater will once again transform into a sultry cabaret-style dancehall and candlelit getaway. The evening begins with a two group salsa lessons (one beginner, one intermediate) from Maestro Flaco of Flaco’s Dance Factory. Once acquainted with the groove, all dancers are welcome to get down to the sounds of a live Latin big band. Bringing the spirit of the golden era to life at Salsa Caliente! this February is Klave Mayor. Klave Mayor was created in 2012 by father and son duo, Eddie Maldonado and Nepy Maldonado. The now 9-piece band plays a wide range of styles including Cuban Timba, Puerto Rico Swing, and NYC Flavor.
Not only is the Salsa Caliente! series an excellent opportunity to meet new people in a lively, fun environment, but it’s also an excellent way to experience Latin culture. Cultural diversity is at the core of Painted Bride’s history and mission, and the arts organization is pleased to once again collaborate with Jesse Bermudez to bring this authentic dance event to the arts community of Philadelphia.
