Elijah Thomas

Created by Philadelphia reedist and conductor Elijah Thomas, and featuring some of the best and brightest musical talents in the city, this hour-long musical narrative is composed of short symphonic poems, depicts defining moments, circumstances, and aspects of the life of a young black musician.

Elijah Thomas is a Philadelphia native and avid performer in the Philadelphia and tri-state regions. He is a graduate of the Esther Boyer College of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Arranging & Composition and an instrumental concentration in flute, and is currently enrolled as a graduate student at the Boyer College of Music & Dance pursuing a M.M. in Music Education. He also serves as co-director of Jazz Workshop at the Community Music Scholars Program of Temple University Music Preparatory; teaching artist for Tune-Up Philly!;  teaching artist for the prestigious Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, PA; and serves as private flute instructor at The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, PA. Elijah is an avid performer, and his credits are varied, including (but are not limited to) World Café Live Philadelphia & The Queen (Philadelphia & Wilmington); The Howard Theater (Washington D.C.); The Kimmel Center for Performing Arts (Philadelphia); International House (Philadelphia, P.A.); Tomi Jazz & Shapeshifter Lab (New York City); Blue Note Amsterdam (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), and much more.
