Sex Mob performs an original score to the Italian film, Maciste All’Inferno (Maciste in Hell), directed by Guido Brignone (1925). Reputed as the film that inspired Felini to direct, this silent surrealist classic follows protagonist Maciste down to hell as he struggles against the devil to maintain his virtuosity. Led by slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein, Sex Mob will perform an original, live score, using the unique, spontaneous language of melodies and rhythms that make them one of today’s leading jazz ensembles, while the film plays.
