Play Submission Opportunity: “Get into our shorts!” Festival

The Bride and the Philadelphia Dramatists’ Center invite you to submit for the first annual “Get Into Our Shorts!” play festival! From August 3 to August 6, 2015, we will be showcasing the best never-before-seen, non-traditional, 15-30 minute plays Philadelphia has to offer.

Eligible plays are:
Between 15-30 minutes (15-30 pages) long
Written by members of the PDC or by playwrights residing in the Greater Philadelphia Area
Brand new and unproduced, or presented only in readings
Cast with no more than six (6) actors, and comprised of a minimal set
***Non-traditionally theatrical in some way. Give us your strange double-casting, your deux ex machina, your unusually poetic language–the sky’s the limit!

Playwrights will receive:
A fully staged production of their short play, with a creative team drawn from Philadelphia’s vibrant theatre community
A share of box office proceeds
The chance to celebrate new work among peers and new audiences

Do you have a play that fits the bill? Submit the following to literary@pdc1.org:
A cover page with the title of the play, your name, address, phone number, and email address
A copy of your play with all identifying information removed.
Limit one (1) per playwright

All documents must be Word documents or PDFs
Deadline for submissions is Monday, June 1 at 11:59 PM. Submitted plays will be evaluated via blind committee. All playwrights will be notified by mid-July.
