Announcing Our 2024-2025 Theme: “Movement. Makers. Memory.”

Philadelphia is a city in motion. Movements take on many forms – from daily commutes and neighborhood displacement to social justice initiatives and the movement of culture between one generation and another. Within these movements there are Makers – artists, leaders, and experimenters who push our culture, thinking, and human connection forward. Within the things we make lives a Memory, both individual and collective, that helps us to preserve our making, our movements, and our unique identity.

This season we are heralding bold, exploratory work that transforms our understanding of place, space, process, and collective movement. We honor what was and what is, while we imagine what could be. This season explores memory, movements, and what goes into their “making” through cross-generational storytelling circles, a community archive celebrating the experiences of Disabled Philadelphians, and more.

We are excited to announce our Fall/Winter Programming under this theme:

  • Voices of 52nd Street: Then & Now (through December 2025): A community archive and celebration of the Historic West Philadelphia Corridor created with West Philadelphia-born multimedia artist Pam Hooks.
  • Undue Burden (through November 2024): A living archive and workshop series by Hook&Loop, an artist collective led by Disabled, Sick, neurodivergent and MAD people in Philadelphia.
  • Resistance Garden (ongoing): Examining and redefining our relationships with nature, farming, food politics, and the cultural use of plants through the arts.
