Call for Writers: Assata’s House
We are seeking talented and dedicated writers to collaborate on an upcoming project that aims to educate and inspire. Assata’s House is an initiative grounded in the principles and revolutionary ideas of Assata Shakur, and we need to bring this vision to life.
About Assata’s House: A project dedicated to promoting healing justice, empowering communities, and advancing the principles espoused by Assata Shakur. Our mission is to create educational resources that reflect her ideas on freedom, justice, and resistance. We hope to have this done by October. Pay is $200 per collaborator.
Project Overview: We are developing an educational brochure that will serve as both an introduction to Assata Shakur’s philosophy and a guide for those seeking to engage with her work. The brochure will cover key themes such as:
- The life and legacy of Assata Shakur
- Core principles of her revolutionary ideas
- Practical ways to apply her teachings in today’s context
- Resources for further learning and engagement
What We’re Looking For: We are seeking writers who are:
- Knowledgeable about Assata Shakur’s life and work
- Experienced in crafting clear, engaging zine
- Committed to social justice and community empowerment
- Able to work collaboratively in a team of 4
HOW TO APPLY
Please submit a brief proposal outlining your imagined contribution, include a short summary on one of the following topics related to her: core principles, practical ways to apply her teachings, her life and legacy, and attach a short bio highlighting your experience and connection to the project.

About Raylá White-Spraggins, Lead Organizer
Raylá (they/she) is a community-oriented administrator and organizer who utilizes strategy and program development to create opportunities for intergenerational learning. She aspires to deepen her impact by designing equitable systems, models, and policies that support inclusion. Ultimately, she sees Assata’s House as a survival program: a community sanctuary and cooperative for healers, educators, and artists for social change.
