A photograph of And Keller (he/she/they) performing at Automat gallery at the Crane Arts Building in August of 2022. And is standing at the right edge of the photo. He is a light skinned person with a dark stubbly beard. She is wearing a blue-gray ball cap, blue, pink, and gray button up shirt and black shorts and sandals. They are standing at a microphone stand playing guitar. And is standing in front of three of Pam Price's paintings hung on the wall behind him. The paintings are bright turquoise, pink, orange, yellow, red, purple and green abstractions. On the floor to the left of And, is an amp, PA speaker, and mixer. Her guitar case is on the floor in front of and to the left of them.

Moving Music features an accessible dance aerobics workshop from Queerobics and multimedia musical performances from local Disabled artists. This event is created for Disabled, Sick, neurodivergent, and MAD people in Philadelphia.

Part of Undue Burden (Oct. 19 – Nov. 23, 2024), a community archive and event series celebrating the experiences of Disabled people.

Event Schedule

1-3pm: Queerobics Workshop

An accessibility-centered, all-levels dance aerobics class led by Queerobics, a collective of queer, trans, and chronically ill dance artists. Dance Captains demonstrate movement variations in real time alongside the lead instructor, including low impact variations and participation from a seated position.

3-6pm: Musical Performances

Experience multimedia performances from local sound/music artists in the round. Performances will happen in the center of the room.

Throughout the performances, audiences are invited to float between different areas of the theater specified to care for our emerging needs. There will be spaces for laying, resting, dancing, and creating stamps from air dry clay to be used later in our ‘Touching Craft’ program.

3-6pm: Archive/Access Engagement

Audiences are invited to add to our creative-community-captioning installation: a cozy desk-like space nestled next to the performances where audiences can document written audio descriptions and/or drawings expressing what they are experiencing/hearing. These descriptions and drawings will be projected into the space, serving as our live, creative-community-captioning. Anything written or drawn will be later printed out and pinned to our fabric installation.
