Spotlight on: Anthony Kamani

While the Bride functions with a small staff, our Bride family extends to many more people. From long time patrons, to our board members, volunteers, and community friends there are many people who have contributed to keeping the Bride the vibrant place it has been for 43 years. Periodically we highlight some of those people here on our blog.

Anthony Kamani is one of our house-managers, and also the co-coordinator of the Bridal Salon play reading series. He also happens to be our resident baker, whipping up delicious cakes for each staff members birthday. Get to know him:

How long have you been a part of the Bride community? Twenty-four years

Share with us your first experience at the Bride, or your favorite Bride story.My first experience was as a performer with Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon, when the Bride was the first theater in Philadelphia to dedicate an entire evening of performance on the subject of HIV.

What is your fantasy artist or project you’d like to see come to the Bride? Reggie Watts, saw his show at the Public Theatre 4yrs ago and thinking about it still blows be away today.

Name five of your favorite artists. Frida Kahlo, Jeffrey Wright, The Talking Heads, Ed Shockley, Nina Simone.

Name three favorite foods. Pasta, Mexican and everything else.
