Today’s spotlight was chosen by our Director of Marketing, Phil Sumpter. Allow me to introduce you to Maestro Flaco, our resident salsa instructor for both of Salsa Caliente! dance parties, and our Salsa Bootcamp.

NAME: Maestro Flaco

OCCUPATION: Teaching Artist

WHAT GENRES OF ART DO YOU ENJOY?: Dance, music, theater, sculpture, stained glass

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PART OF THE BRIDE COMMUNITY?: 2 1/2 years

SHARE YOUR FIRST OR FAVORITE BRIDE EXPERIENCE: My favorite experience at the Bride was teaching my first Salsa Boot Camp class. I love teaching and the looks on the faces of my students when they ‘get it’. My next favorite experience was shooting our first !Salsa Caliente! video. That was great fun.

WHAT IS YOUR FANTASY PROJECT YOU’D LIKE TO SEE COME TO THE BRIDE?: I have a piece for the stage called ” THE PROPHET DANCES”, which is based on Khalil Gibran’s “The Prophet,” undoubtedly one of the most important literary works of all time. I am looking for artists to collaborate with on it.

NAME 5 OF YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS: Robert DeNiro & Tim Roth are two of my fave actors, and I like the music and dancing of Michael Jackson. I am also impressed with the work of local mixed media artist James Smull and the dancing of new-to-the-area L.A. transplant Maritza Ogarro.

NAME 3 FAVORITE FOODS: #1 is CHOCOLATE in any form. After that I gotta have my Ropa Vieja with all the best side dishes like arroz (amarillo) con habicuelas and maduros. #3… I really enjoy a nice piece of Chilean Sea Bass.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU ONLINE?: I can be contacted on Facebook
