Sept 27 – Anthony Tidd’s Quite Sane Returns: A Philly Homecoming Release Party
Anthony Tidd, the visionary bassist and composer, brings his genre-bending band Quite Sane back home for a night of pure fire. Expect a fearless blend of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and unapologetic political commentary, delivered with explosive energy and Philly pride.

Oct 19 – Elio Villafranca & The Jass Syncopators
Born in Cuba and rooted in classical training, pianist Elio Villafranca lights up the stage with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, New Orleans swing, and global grooves. His Jass Syncopators channel tradition and innovation in equal measure, creating a joyous, infectious sound that’s impossible to sit still to.

Nov 1 – Lafayette Gilchrist & New Volcanoes: Move With Love
Baltimore’s Lafayette Gilchrist makes his long-awaited Philly debut, leading his powerhouse ensemble New Volcanoes in Move With Love. Fusing jazz, funk, go-go, and hip-hop, Gilchrist delivers a pulse-pounding ride of rhythm and resistance. This is music that moves bodies and minds.

About the Series
For 56 years, the Painted Bride Art Center has bridged jazz and justice, hip-hop and heritage, performance and protest. From Jazz on Vine in 1975 to global-minded Jazz Jaunts and next-generation showcases like Fresh Cut from the Vine, the Bride has carried jazz forward as a living, evolving practice.

Co-curated with WRTI’s J. Michael Harrison, host of The Bridge, this fall’s three-part edition of Satellite Sound carries the Bride’s jazz legacy into the present, spanning bebop, hip-hop, and global soul while spotlighting fearless new voices shaping the future.

Baltimore-based pianist, keyboardist and composer leads his own bands, New Volcanoes and Sonic Trip Masters, and is a member of the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra under the leadership of centenarian Maestro Marshall Allen.
