Between Matriarchs is a community-centered exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Yannick Lowery, emerging from a series of conversations, image-making sessions, and shared experiences rooted in West Philadelphia’s Parkside neighborhood.

Building on the cyanotype workshop held earlier in the week, this exhibition brings together visual works that reflect matriarchal lineage, place-based memory, and the everyday stories that shape community identity. The project functions as a living archive—one that honors the voices, histories, and cultural knowledge of those who contribute to it.

Rather than presenting a finished product, Between Matriarchs invites audiences into an evolving process. Attendees are encouraged to engage with the work, reflect on their own connections to place, and consider the role of memory in shaping collective experience.
